Based on the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley, Nick Dear’s critically acclaimed adaptation of Frankenstein premiered at the Royal National Theatre of London on February 5, 2011, and opened February 22 to critical acclaim. Directed by Danny Boyle, the original cast featured Benedict Cumberbatch & John Lee Miller alternating the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Told through the Creature’s perspective, this unique version focuses on his abandonment and growing discovery of his own humanity, along with his yearning for companionship. Meanwhile, Victor Frankenstein struggles with the power and responsibility that comes with the creation of life. Does Victor Frankenstein create a monster, or does the hatred and bigotry his creation encounters change the Creature into a monster?

MPC Theatre Arts is launched the 66th season, which focuses on identity, with this bold production of Frankenstein. The first show to be directed by new MPC Theatre Department Chair Teddy Eck, Frankenstein featured original musical by MPC students, and an innovative scenic design that uses several multimedia elements.
